The Rena SmartFilter 20 hang on back filter system for aquariums up to 20 gals (75L). Finally a hang on filter system that really works! The innovative design features a new 4 sided filter cartridge system with center flow design. The pressurized water from the aquarium flows upwards through the center of each cartridge and out through the four sides insuring all water is filtered and doesn't bypass the filter media. The four sided cartridge also presents a much larger filter surface area than conventional hang on filters for increased filtering capacity. The three-layer cartridges consist of an inner layer of mechanical filtration, a middle layer of BioChem Zorb and a final layer of mechanical filtration. The water then flows through to the discharge chamber where is is bathed in BioChem Stars for efficient biological filtration before exiting back into the tank.

The Rena SmartFilter has been three years in the making and features additional design innovations for smart aquarium keeping.  First, a low-profile design is neat and completely covered so it doesn't interfere with the overall look of your aquarium. Second, the filter cartridges are secured in individual holders and can be removed with a simple twist of the dials mounted on the top of the holder.  The top also features a convenient dosing port for water additives assuring water additives will be thoroughly mixed in the discharge chamber before exiting into the aquarium.

The units are powered by the legendary Rena water pumps with built-in top-mounted flow control. Each pump is housed in a convenient, top-mounted, removable caddy (design patent pending) which makes cleaning and pump maintenance a snap.
